Barbara Lynn Sidener

Barbara Lynn Sidener, age 70, passed away peacefully and on her terms surrounded by family and friends on May 4, 2023, in Reno, NV, after a short but courageous fight against cancer. Barbara was born to Joan and John Babcock in 1952 in San Bernardino, CA, and moved shortly after to Quincy, CA, where she was raised with her siblings Linda (Mike) Little, Johnny Babcock, James (Michael) Babcock, Patsy Babcock and Debra Babcock.

Growing up, Barbara was adventurous, outgoing and often mischievous and not much changed as an adult! She was very proud to be the 1970 class mascot at Quincy High School, and wants everyone to know that her mascot uniform still fits! In 2003 the Sideners moved to Salt Lake City, UT, where Barb worked at Valley Mental Health in the forensics department where she later would retire. In 2015 Barb and Dale moved back home to Quincy where she was an active member in the community where she pridefully volunteered for any organizations including CASA and the local food bank. Barbara was truly one of a kind and always made everyone feel welcome, her motto was “just be kind.” Barb will be missed dearly as she was an iconic member of her community, to know her was to love her.

Barbara is survived by her husband Dale Sidener, daughters Jessica (Bart) Artz, Kristen Sidener, and Katie (Eric) Larson; grandchildren Seth, Little Bart, Preston, Carter, Cortlyn and Wyatt; nieces and nephews Dan and Jeffrey Watenpaugh, Brooke and Bradley Babcock, Miranda and Brandon Babcock.

In honor of my mom, in lieu of flowers please donate a local non-profit organization in the community in her honor.

Celebration of Life will be held in Quincy at a date to be determined in the near future.

  • Barbara Sidener was an icon in our community and will always be remembered as a kind, loving person always willing to help anyone that crossed her path.
Barbara was taken away from her family and friend’s way to soon, but she left many, many wonderful memories behind for us to remember her by and yes, Barbara, we will always remember that you could still wear your mascot uniform.
You will be greatly missed but we will know that you are up in heaven looking down on family and friends with a big smile on your face.
