Bear Creek Frames to host plein air festival, seeks host families
What is Plein Air?
“En plein air” is a French term meaning painting “in the open air.” Plein air painters are challenged with rapidly changing light conditions and bravely paint in all sorts of weather.
Plein air artists from across the country will converge on the Lost Sierra May 31 through June 4 to paint the vast vistas and small towns of the area. There will be painting demonstrations, workshops and the First Friday Gallery Art Walk in Quincy; (including the artist reception and awards ceremony in the Gallery at Bear Creek Frames). The festival will culminate on Saturday with a quick draw competition (artists will paint from 10 a.m. to noon in Quincy). An “Off the Easel Sale” will commence at noon in Dame Shirley Park during the Saturday Morning Market in downtown Quincy.
The event is looking for host families to house visiting artists during their stay in Plumas County and sponsors to help with the expenses. Call or message Mark at Bear Creek Frames 530-616-0230
