Blasting operation in Canyon today Nov. 23
Caltrans District 2 and its contractor J.F. Shea are preparing to blast and scale the slide area on Highway 70 near the Butte/Plumas County line in the Feather River Canyon. Work is expected to get underway around 10 a.m. this morning, Nov. 23.
Following this work, debris removal will begin when it is deemed safe.
While there is no concrete date to reopen one lane with 24/7 traffic control, crews will continue working toward that goal —weather and safety permitting.
