Busy holiday calendar in Lake Almanor area

Is it just me, or did October fly by? We had another great turnout last month for our Town Coffee — “A Town Plaza for Year Round Activities.” We are partnering and working closely with other organizations in our community to put together a business plan that will include a multi-step implementation process … stay tuned for details on ways you can get involved.

As this goes to press, the 7th Annual Lake Almanor to Indian Valley Holiday Shopping Tour has almost ended — if you haven’t participated yet, there’s still time to come out and enjoy the festivities. Pick up a tour guide from any participating merchant and complete your tour by the close of business on Thursday, Nov. 14, for chances to win fabulous prizes donated by our local merchants. Visit mountainaffairs.com for more details.

Thank you to all who participated in our first-ever Merchant’s Scarecrow Competition — it was a lot of fun, and something we’ll definitely consider hosting again next year. The Coffee Station, Coldwell Banker, and Almanor Fitness received the most votes. And a big shout-out to all of our wonderful merchants who hosted the Merchants’ Safe Trick or Treat for the kids in our community — we really enjoyed seeing all of the kids dressed in their costumes and having a great time. The Grand Prize winners were Grady Oswold and Jack Sabelman dressed as Grandmas; winners in the other categories were announced on the Chamber’s Facebook page and all will be contacted shortly to receive their prizes.

We also appreciate everyone who was scheduled to take part in last weekend’s Community Peace Tree Lighting to honor our Veterans — the Blue Star Moms; music from the Lake Almanor Community Church and Christi Chase; the Boy Scout Troop honor guard; and the keynote speaker Shawn Bondon, Plumas County VSO. A huge “thank you!” to Womack Construction, Clint’s Tree Service and All Phase Landscape for your indispensable help getting the tree and surrounding area ready for this important event.
