Call for letters of interest for Portola City Council seat vacancy

On Wednesday, March 22, the Portola City Council expressed its intent to fill the vacancy on the city council by appointment and voted to receive letters of interest from people who are interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy. The appointed person will serve until the position is filled at the next General Municipal Election on November 5, 2024.

To be eligible for appointment,  a person must be a registered voter, live within the city limits of the City of Portola, and submit a letter of interest as to why they wish to serve on the Portola City Council.

Please send or drop off letters of interest to the City Clerk’s office at Portola City Hall, 35 Third Ave, Portola, CA 96122 or PO BOX 1225 Portola, CA 96122. Letters can also be sent by email to [email protected] .

Letters are due by Saturday, April 15. The office will be closed on the Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 but letters can still be dropped off through the City Hall’s mail slot or emailed.

Each interested person is invited to interview publicly in-person before the City Council at the city council meeting on Wednesday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Portola City Hall. Applicants will be given up to five minutes to present to the council.  The city council anticipates making the appointment at that meeting.
