Caltrans to work on Elephant Butte tunnel this week
Caltrans announced that work will be performed on the Elephant Butte Tunnel canopy on Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon this Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 24-26. This tunnel is located east of the Butte/Plumas County line. There will be 24/7 traffic control with 15-minute delays anticipated. Daytime traffic control with the same delays are currently in place at this location.
This is one of a few different locations on Highway 70 between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye with current operations and delays. Motorists can currently anticipate 30-60 minute delays in this area, Mondays-Saturdays during daytime hours. Minimal delays are also anticipated on Sundays.
