Census Bureau is hiring

The Census Bureau needs to hire about 500,000 census takers. In order to meet this goal, the Census Bureau is ramping up recruiting efforts in Northern California now.

Census takers will be paid at least $16.50 per hour in Siskiyou, Modoc, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Trinity, Humboldt, Glenn,  Butte, Plumas, Colusa and Yuba counties, and will also be paid for training, and receive mileage reimbursement at $0.58 per mile. To apply, go to 2020Census.com/Jobs.

Census takers will visit households to collect census answers in person from those that did not respond online, by mail or by phone.

The results of the census will have real world impacts and consequences for communities across Northern California. From determining the number of seats in Congress to how more than $675 billion every year is allocated for roads, schools and hospitals.
