Chester boys win Janesville tourney
The Chester seventh/eighth-grade boys basketball team took first place in the Janesville Eighth-Grade Basketball Tournament on Feb. 1.
As related by Camille Klimek, “The road to the championship involved a defensive battle as they faced the Richmond Jr. High team that ended with a 33 to 24 Game 1 victory for Chester.”
Game two was a hard fought 50 to 47 loss for Chester, followed by a 48 to 40 comeback victory over Diamond View.
The championship game was a rematch with Janesville that ended with Chester coming out on top with a 45 to 40 win.
“The boys really rose to the occasion this weekend as they battled some really good Susanville teams,” said coach Mike Klimek.
He quickly added, “I am super proud of all their hard work this season!”
The team invites everybody to come watch the Chester boys and girls teams play at their next home games starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Chester High School.
