The gymnasium at Chester Elementary School was full on Thursday, June 8, for the graduation ceremony of the sixth-grade class of 2023. Parents, relatives and friends were there to congratulate and support the 17 students that are about to move up the ladder to the next step in their academic lives. The program started with a flag salute and an address by principal Scott Corey, followed by student and academic awards and a Thank You to the parents for their support to the staff and their students.
The sixth-grade members of the Elementary School Band, led by Dr. Jane Brown, provided a fine version of the ‘Star Wars” theme song. Mrs. Bainbridge gave an overview of the Chester Elementary Outdoor Education program, which now includes all grades and recognition to the students, especially the graduates, who walked over 75 miles by the end of this program’s completion. Of course, the high point of the evening was the presentation of the graduates’ diplomas by PUSD Superintendent William Roderick, Principal Scott Corey and sixth-grade teacher Mrs. Tantardino.
