Chester Rotary welcomes new District Governor

A beautiful temperate evening and a gentle breeze on Wednesday, Aug. 24, set the tone as the Rotary Club of Chester hosted a welcome barbeque dinner for incoming District 5190 Governor Jeff Gabriel and his wife, Jane. Gabriel gave a nice presentation on the 2022-23 International Slogan “Imagine Rotary.” The idea of the slogan begins with the idea that Rotary means different things to different people and different clubs. Each member and club should try to imagine how their vision can mesh with other members and clubs to achieve common goals for the community, nation and the world.

Chester Rotary regularly meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Village Café in the Wildwood Center at noon, but every two to three months they schedule an evening social dinner to relax and communicate ideas. The timing of the new Governor’s visit was very fortuitous as he and his wife were able to enjoy a relaxed social setting in lieu of a business meeting. Some Jerk Chicken, several salads, vegetables, fruit tray and freshly baked peach custard pie with real whipped cream made for a very low-key atmosphere.
