CHP Report: Three vehicle collision results in minor injuries
Colton Peters, 21, of Crescent Mills, was driving his 2008 Subaru westbound on Highway 70 west of Chandler Road at a stated speed of 55 mph on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 4:45 p.m.
Marjorie Goosey, 78, of Greenville, was driving a 2019 Dodge westbound on Highway 70, but was stopped in the westbound lane and yielding to eastbound traffic as she waited to turn left into the Evergreen Trailer Park.
Peters did not realize that Goosey was stopped. He applied the brakes and turned the Subaru to the left to avoid hitting the Dodge, but the right front of his Subaru collided with the right rear of the Dodge. Peters’ Subaru began to rotate into the eastbound lane of Highway 70 where Brett T. Bouchard, 28, of Grass Valley was driving eastbound. Bouchard saw the collision and applied his brakes and steered his Ford to the left to avoid hitting the Subaru but there wasn’t time or space. The front right of the Ford collided with the left side of the Subaru.
After the collision Goosey’s Dodge came to rest facing west within the westbound lane of Highway 70. Bouchard’s Ford came to rest facing east with the eastbound lane. Peters’ Subaru continued in a southwesterly direction where it collided with the Evergreen Trailer Park mailboxes. It came to a rest facing northeast.
No parties were using cellphones and all were wearing their lap and shoulder harnesses. Peters suffered minor injuries, as did Goosey who was transported to Plumas District Hospital.
