Co-ed flag football comes to Plumas

For those young people looking for something to do this summer, you now have another choice.

Oliver Pollard, who is a volunteer football coach at Chester High, is organizing a flag football league that welcomes boys and girls from Quincy, Greenville, Chester and Westwood.

There will be four age divisions that will include kids ages 5 thru 17 and the games will be played on age appropriate-sized fields.

At least for the first year, all the games will be played in Chester at the high school field or the Truman Collins Sports Complex.

Pollard explained that they will place kids from the same town on the same team if there are enough signed up, allowing practices to take place in their home town.

Registration is currently underway with applications available at Plumas County schools.

The cost is $50 per child or $150 for three or more children. The cost includes a uniform jersey.

Applications and checks can be dropped off at Chester Elementary, Chester High or Sage Creek Insurance, 289 Main St., Chester.

You can also mail in payment and application to Almanor Flag Football, P.O. Box 92, Chester CA 96020.

Registration closes May 15 with the league opener beginning June 28. There will be a parent/volunteer meeting at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the Chester High School Gym.

Anyone interested in coaching, refereeing or just helping out can contact Oliver Pollard at 566-6671.
