Community Member of the Year named at annual chamber mixer

The Greenville Town Hall was decorated in holiday fancy for the annual Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer complete with a ham dinner and potluck side dishes. Nearly every seat was taken and the evening served as a warm respite from the cold outdoors.

This year’s Community Member of the Year award went to John Banks — especially for his work in securing the American Legion a new and permanent home on Greenville’s Main Street.

Under Banks’ leadership, the Indian Valley American Legion post has acquired the Main Street building from the Plumas Unified School District. It’s also now home to the senior nutrition program, providing meals to area seniors as well as a place to congregate.
