County offices closed through March 1

County Administrative Officer Debra Lucero announced today that Plumas will be continuing its closure due to snow except for emergency personnel and road crews through March 1.

Lucero noted that the blizzard storm warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and then bitter cold is expected. Crews will need time to clear the roads and county facilities. Schools are closed as well.

No snow is expected on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but it is forecast to return on the weekend. “We will evaluate on Sunday night if it’s looking bad, but it appears we’re through the worst of it,” Lucero said.

Any county employee who can work from home is encouraged to do so and Lucero said that officials are preparing for the March 7 Board of Supervisors meeting.
