Couples’ tournament held at Graeagle Meadows

Graeagle Men’s Golf Association

The first of this year’s couples’ tournaments has taken place under sunny skies at Graeagle Meadows Golf Course. “Unfortunately, there were only 20 players participating, but those that did play enjoyed the good weather, with temperatures in the mid-70s,” said a golf club member. The annual tournament is known as the “Cha-Cha-Cha.” For the game, each 4-person team score is calculated by using the best ball of the foursome on the first hole, the two best balls on the second hole, and the three best balls on the third hole. Starting on the fourth hole the process is repeated. The winning team for the 2023 Cha-Cha-Cha was the team of Dave and Cathy Macdonald, and Jeff and Patty Monaghan, with a net team score of 120.

Second-place winners were the team of Gene and Kathy Carr, and Dennis and Alaine Flynn, with a team score of 125.  Third place was claimed by the team of Dan Friedman and Sharon Russell, and Mark and Beth Yuill, with a team score of 128.

Following play, and in anticipation of late afternoon thunderstorms, a social hour and dinner were held at the Graeagle Fire Hall, instead of the usual Graeagle picnic grounds.
