COVID-19 darkens the theater; events canceled

The Town Hall Theatre is dark; no movies will be shown. And no actors will grace the West End Theatre stage in the near future. All Words & Music events are canceled for the foreseeable future.

COVID-19 has struck the arts and entertainment community.

“In light of the state and county guidelines surrounding COVID-19, we have made the unhappy decisions to cancel our events scheduled for April,” Roxanne Vallado wrote in a letter to members of Plumas Arts.

Those events include Jazz Night, a gallery opening, Words & Music, all movies and the Taste of Plumas.

Valladao said that closing the Town Hall Theatre was a difficult decision made even before Gov. Newsom’s edict that all nonessential businesses close and that people shelter at home.

Over at the West End Theatre, dramaworks had to cancel its planned dates for a children’s production of Peter Pan.

The future of the Feather River College spring drama production scheduled for May remains in limbo.
