Date change for Civil War presentation at Speakers Bureau

Local Civil War historian Denny FitzPatrick will be lecturing on the Battle of Shiloh at the Speakers’ Bureau, to be held at the Mohawk Community Resource Center (MCRC) on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 5:30 p.m.

MCRC is located at the intersection of Highways 89 and 70, next to the Corner Barn in Blairsden.

The Battle of Shiloh, fought in April 1862, marked a turning point in the war between the North and the South.

The battle took place in the wilderness of south central Tennessee and involved an amazing assortment of inept generals commanding over 80,000 troops, most of which had little or no combat experience before the two-day slaughter that would claim almost 24,000 casualties.

MCRC is a service of Plumas Rural Services, and serves to enrich the lives of the residents and visitors of the surrounding communities in a friendly atmosphere. A variety of activities take place at the center daily.
