The Almanor Recreation and Park District canceled the Poker Paddle scheduled for this Saturday, July 24, due to the significant fire danger and unhealthy air quality.
The path of the Dixie Fire is moving toward Lake Almanor, and all of the West Shore communities are under evacuation warnings, with all visitor lodging and campsites evacuated. The event was scheduled to start and end at Plumas Pines, which is also under evacuation warnings. The air quality has been in the unhealthy to hazardous range and does not expect to improve over the next several days or longer.
Organizers announced that Thursday night’s Farmers Market in Chester also has been canceled July 22 due to poor air quality.
