dramaworks Magic Beanstalk Players present: Pirates Past Noon KIDS

This week the Magic Beanstalk Players will whisk audiences away to a Caribbean island in the 18th Century in Pirates Past Noon KIDS! This musical is an adaptation of the fourth of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books from
the Magic Tree House book series, which has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.

Jack and Annie take a journey back in time where they encounter native sea creatures living carefree lives in the topical sun, a band of buccaneers searching for silver and gold, and Morgan Le Fay, the mysterious “M” person who teaches them the true meaning of treasure.

Director Danielle Wagner Plocki said, “We have over 40 Plumas County students in kindergarten through sixth grade involved in this production. With themes of friendship, the value of reading, and finding simple pleasures in everyday life, this production will delight audiences with heartwarming messages!”

The goal of the Magic Beanstalk Players Program is to provide a supportive space where students can learn new skills, work together, be creative, and gain confidence. The fall semester focuses on drama skills such a characterization, improvisation, stage presence, story-telling, voice control and movement. Throughout the spring semester, students utilize their drama skills to rehearse and perform a full musical production.

“Our goal as a youth drama program is to not only open a child’s eyes to the wonderment of the theatre, but to inspire young imaginations, instill an appreciation for the arts, and provide a safe environment for children to be creative, flourish and grow,” said Plocki.

The show plays Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m.,  with shows on Saturday April 1 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sunday April 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets to the show are on sale at www.westendtheatre.us.

The Magic Beanstalk Players is a tuition based program. The program has a financial aid fund to ensure that no child is turned away from participating due to lack of financial means. It’s easy to sponsor a student. Donations made payable to Magic Beanstalk Players, 14 Crescent St., Quincy, CA 95971 are always appreciated.
