Eastern Plumas Health Care Applies for $50,000 USDA Rural Development grant

Eastern Plumas Health Care hopes to offset the cost to improve its transportation services with a significant grant award for a new vehicle. With the need to improve the existing van used for the transportation of EPHC Skilled Nursing Facility residents, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant could not have come at a more opportune time. “Fingers crossed, our application for the $50,000 USDA Rural Development grant will be awarded to EPHC for this much needed upgrade in transportation,” said Joanna Garneau, Program Manager for Eastern Plumas Health Care. This new transportation van will improve the quality of life for EPHC Skilled Nursing residents because it will allow for accessibility to doctor appointments, errands, and outings that cannot be as easily accomplished with the existing mode of transportation. Garneau said, “In choosing something new, we are purchasing an all-wheel drive, much larger, wheel-chair accessible transportation van that can accommodate more passengers.” Community members are invited to Eastern Plumas Health Care’s Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, April 27. Funding updates will be provided, including information on this $50,000 USDA Rural Development grant.
