Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship awarded to deserving drama student

The dramaworks Magic Beanstalk Players Program is pleased to announce that sixth-grader Zia Cressey is this year’s recipient of the Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship. Program Director Danielle Wagner Plocki said, “Zia has been part of the Magic Beanstalk Players program for several years. She is a great role model to the younger students and is enthusiastic about performing. She has even taken an active interest in learning stage makeup this year. Zia always has a great attitude and is very deserving of this award!”

Zia will play the role of Jonah in the Magic Beanstalk Players upcoming production of Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon KIDS. The production will be at the West End Theatre on March 31, April 1, and 2. Forty-five students in grades K-6 are involved in the show.

The Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship was created by Elliott’s family and contributed to by many loving friends, family, and community members. In the spirit of Elliott’s memory and his love of theatre, the Scholarship is awarded to one student each year who has demonstrated exemplary performance, enthusiasm, and dedication to The Magic Beanstalk Players youth drama program.
