EPHC Auxiliary awards scholarships to employees

The Eastern Plumas Health Care (EPHC) Auxiliary recently awarded $7,340 in scholarships to six EPHC employees. Most years the Auxiliary solicits applications from all EPHC employees for funding of continuing education that improves their knowledge or performance.  The money can be used for training, education, including tuition fees and books, advanced certifications and advanced education for using or monitoring new equipment.

This year’s recipients were Heather Bouma, Lauri Dixon, Chelsea Hudson, Shawna Leal, Ramon de los Santos, and Cole Sharp. The money went towards certification, testing and licensing, tuition, fees and books, and travel/registration for a training conference.

A dedicated fund is available for the EPHC employee scholarships.  This comes from monetary donations at the Nifty Thrifty Store in Portola, not from store sales.  Store sales support both the Portola and Loyalton hospital and dental campuses through the purchase of equipment and supplies.  Most recently, money was used to help purchase a bone density scanner and some physical and occupational therapy equipment.

The Nifty Thrifty thanks the public for supporting local health facilities.  For more information, or if you would like to join the EPHC Auxiliary, please call 530-832-5967.
