Escorts into Bucks Lake begin at 5 p.m. tonight Aug. 1

Residents trying to access Bucks Lake this afternoon hit a roadblock — literally. Though the Plumas County Sheriff lifted the mandatory evacuation order for Bucks Lake, there is still a road closure in effect in Meadow Valley (since it remains under mandatory evacuation orders).

So beginning at 5 p.m. today Aug. 1, and at the top of every hour until 9 p.m., residents will be escorted from River Dance in Meadow Valley to Big Springs Road at Bucks Lake. Beginning tomorrow, the escorts will be provided every day from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., also at the top of each hour.

Anyone who remains at Bucks Lake after 9 p.m. will be presumed to be spending the night there.

Residents must provide identification and proof of residency to be escorted into the area.
