Estelle Leiber – June 20, 1935 – December 18, 2022

Estelle Leiber passed away suddenly Sunday evening on December 18th, 2022. Her family was by her side until she went to her Eternal Home. She was 87 years old.

Estelle was born on June 20, 1935, to Albert and Cayatana Pescador Acosta in Durango, Mexico.

When Estelle was a young woman, she was hired as a nanny for a family in Southern California with two young sons. At that time, she met her husband, Larry L. Leiber, who was in the Navy and stationed in Long Beach. They were married in 1957 and celebrated 65 years of marriage this past year.

She lived in Quincy for 57 years, moving here from Banning, California, after her husband Larry got a new job with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office in 1965.

Estelle had a special gift and talent for the caretaking of children, and she provided childcare for many families over the years here in Quincy as well as her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Estelle worked for many years at the Ranchito Motel where she was housekeeper.

Estelle is survived by her husband Larry; her children: Lori Simpson (Marvin), Lynda Brown (Dale), Lisa Wallace (Damon) and Larry W. Leiber (Stacey); her beloved grandchildren: Joseph Mosinski, Kelly Mosinski, Carina Retallack, Jesse Wallace, Joshua Leiber, Mikayla Dale, and Jake Wallace; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Emerson, Violet, Milo, & Leo. Her beloved grandson Matthew Brown preceded her in death in 2014.

Estelle was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the center of home and family. She had a green thumb for plants and flowers. She loved to go to special events, like the Plumas County Fair, craft shows, and in recent years, the FRC Follies. She was a people person and loved chatting with friends and neighbors, making new friends along the way. She loved to have fun and had a wonderful sense of humor that kept the family laughing. She was a lovely and kind person her whole life and she had a deep faith in God. She liked to say a lovely prayer of gratitude at family gatherings. Estelle loved her family deeply and her mountain home in Quincy. She never wanted to live anywhere else.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Blair Mortuary Chapel located at 292 Lawrence St. in Quincy, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
