Fatality in Indian Valley fire
According to Tony Balbiani, fire chief of the Indian Valley Fire Department, firefighters responded to a structure fire at around 3 a.m. Friday morning, May 3, off Genesee Road. The first unit at scene found a fully involved and collapsed structure on fire. It also burned about a half acre into the wildland. Balbiani reports one fatality, but the name of the individual has not been released. Indian Valley Fire was assisted by personnel from Quincy Fire, Prattville Fire, CalFire, Plumas National Forest, PHI and CareFlight Ground. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
