FBI alleges Susanville man abused boys locally and abroad; victims sought

A Susanville man faces allegations of illicit sexual conduct both here and abroad.

According to an affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Russell Quinola in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, Bradley Earl Reger, a licensed nurse practitioner who owned and operated several ambulance and flight ambulance services in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada (including Mountain Lifeflight, Lassen Ambulance Service, Mountain EMS, Inc. and Mountain Lifeflight of Nevada for more than three decades) “sexually abused more than a dozen male patients between the ages of 12 and 22 under the guise of conducting purported medical examinations at his medical clinic in Susanville and in hotel rooms and camp sites all over the world.

“For years, up to and including at least 2020, Reger enticed and induced multiple victims to travel out of California on camping trips or church affiliated missions, where he would conduct unlawful sexual abuse in the guise of medical treatment. Additionally, from at least in or about 2009, up to and including in or about 2018, Reger enticed and induced victims to travel in interstate and foreign commerce to his medical offices in Susanville, California, a city within the Eastern District of California, with a significant or motivating purpose of subjecting them to unlawful sexual abuse … Since at least 1986, Reger has been heavily involved in various Christian schools, summer camps, youth groups and church missions. He has held positions as a teacher, camp counselor, wrestling coach, church deacon, youth group leader, board member of various school boards and owner of affiliated non-profit organizations.”

According to the affidavit, the general counsel for the Church of the Nazarene in Kansas reported Reger’s alleged sexual abuse to Lassen County Child Protective Services and the Board of Registered Nursing on Oct. 18, 2022. CPS forwarded the allegations to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, and the LCSO contacted the FBI about Nov. 1, 2022, and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations launched an investigation into the national and international criminal allegations. By mid-November the FBI, Department of Consumer Affairs and HSI began a “joint investigation” “concerning allegations of sexual abused of minors and adults.”

Church investigation
According to the affidavit, the church began an internal investigation in June 2022 and identified 10 to 15 minor victims and several adult victims — “under the guise of medical treatment or examination.” The victims alleged they were abused “during or in connection with interstate or international travel.” Additional victims had not been identified because the church’s investigation did not include “other religious affiliated organizations such as schools, summer camps and clinics” where Reger had worked as a “medical professional, teacher or counselor.”

Susanville Police Department investigation
According to the affidavit, “In mid-November of 2022, the Joint Investigation discovered that the Susanville Police Department initiated criminal investigations of Reger in 2003, 2006 and 2007 based on multiple independent allegations of sexual abuse of minors … for abusing approximately 12 minor boys while he was in a position of trust, such as a teacher, wrestling coach, employer or camp counselor.”

Reger ain’t a drag queen, the real predators are cleverly disguised as good Christians. The problem is pedophiles thrive in closed, controlled communities where pedophiles can be in positions of power. Keep your kids away from such unsafe places where they can be groomed by predators.

  • Been in Susanville for 30 years and there are quite afew Regers in Lassen county. I’ve never ever heard of this??? What did PD do????

  • I wonder if this is why his wife committed suicide. I also wonder if his brother knew and that’s why he was on board both flights when Mountian Life Flight went down? Who has that bad of luck to survive one helicopter crashing in to honey lake and then be aboard the next one crashing and dies.

The other person who died one board sued. I threshing read, I think.

    • It was his nephew who died in the crash, he was a great person and nothing like his uncle

    • His wife did not commit suicide and his brother was not on a life flight helicopter that went down his nephew was.

    • No, his brother had no clue. It was not his brother on the helicopter, it was his nephew and he was a wonderful guy. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
His brother who is also a Reger did not have anything to do with this. A last name doesn’t mean they’re all the same. Sheesh.

    • I never heard anything about his wife passing. When did this happen?

  • Also it is important to know he was neither a pastor nor a deacon in the Church of the Nazarene. The denomination made a statement: “He is not,
nor has he ever been credentialed as a pastor or minister in the Church of the Nazarene.”

  • There are many of us who were subjected to his grooming and more as teenagers in the 90’s and we have begun filing FBI paperwork in the last 2 weeks. Even as 12-18 year olds we all knew what Brad was back then and hardly anyone believed us. I could provide a list of prominent Lassen County community members who knew of our accusations and denied them because Brad was wealthy and made convincing donations, or they flat out let their “faith” blind them to the truth. He was crafty and worked to sophisticate his tactics as time went on. When the truth all finally rises to the top again, people are going to be even more astonished and outraged at the level of evil and sickness this man possesses. Luckily my parents listened and got me out of that position and being continually exposed to this disgusting criminal.
As for his nephew Clint who was killed in the crash, he was a great friend and mentor unlike his uncle. Brads brothers were also not like him and I respected both of them. I hope everyone including his family who has anything that might help victims see justice would come forward with any information or recollection of interactions with Brad that can help the prosecution deliver justice that is long overdue.
