“Mammoth Base Land Exchange”
INYO, PLUMAS, AND STANISLAUS NATIONAL FORESTS
Notice is hereby given that the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service (FS) is considering an exchange of land with Mammoth Main Lodge Redevelopment LLC under the authority of the General Exchange Act of 3/20/1922 (16 U.S.C. 485, 486), the Wilderness Act of September 3, 1964 (16 U.S.C 1131 (note)), the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 10/21/1976 (43 U.S.C. 1716), the Federal Land Exchange Facilitation Act of 1988 (43 U.S.C. 1716 (note)), and Section 3005 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 (P.L. 113-291).

Any or all of the above-described lands may be exchanged if the values are equal. If the values are unequal, the Secretary of Agriculture may accept a cash equalization payment in excess of 25% of the value of the lands transferred out of Federal ownership. Any such cash equalization payment shall be deposited into the account in the Treasury of the United States commonly known as the Sisk Act (16 USC 484a) and shall be made available to the Secretary for the acquisition of land for addition to the National Forest System.
The FS proposes to acquire land with floodplains associated with: Clavey R. and Rock Cr., Little Reynolds Cr., Looney Cr., and an unnamed stream tributary to Bourland Cr. (Stanislaus NF); an unnamed stream tributary to Hungry Cr. (Plumas NF); Gable Cr., Pine Cr., Chidago Canyon Cr. and unnamed tributaries to it, Dexter Cr., Wet Canyon Cr., and an unnamed stream tributary to Mono Lake (Inyo NF). There are no floodplains associated with the Federal lands.
The Federal lands have been segregated from appropriation under the public land laws and mineral laws for a period not to exceed 5 years from the date of the publication of this notice.
Persons claiming such properties or having valid objections to this proposed exchange must file their claims or objections with the Forest Supervisor, Inyo National Forest, 351 Pacu Lane, Suite 200, Bishop, CA 93514 within 45 days after the initial date of publication of this notice.
