Forest Service halts fire near Oakland Camp
Update: 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 4: The Forest Service has called off the air attack and has stopped the fire from progressing near Oakland Camp. According to spokeswoman Lee Anne Schramel, the fire was held to four acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Update: 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 4: According to a staff writer who went to the scene, the Forest Service is extinguishing the fire that was traveling uphill from Oakland Camp Road. The Forest Service turned around help arriving from local fire departments. CHP was on the scene to assist with traffic control.
A fire broke out this afternoon near Oakland Camp in Quincy.
At 2:30 p.m., local officials were awaiting word from the Forest Service as to whether evacuations would be necessary. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
