Fire on Williams Valley Road
Fire broke out at 685 Williams Valley Road on Thursday, Jan. 9, sometime before 3 p.m.
Indian Valley Fire Chief Jim Hamblin dispatched shortly before 3 p.m., and was first to arrive to a smoke-filled structure fire and called for mutual aid.
Quincy Fire responded with an engine with six volunteers and a support team. Crescent Mills Fire also responded with two volunteers, and its water tender. Indian Valley Fire responded with a command vehicle, two engines and eight volunteers. The home was declared a total loss.
A state investigation from CalFire has begun. The area of origin of the fire has been identified, but not the cause of the fire.
The house belonged to Indian Valley Community Service District employee Don Silva. IVCSD General Manager, Chris Gallagher has set up a GoFundMe campaign titled “Don Silva Fire Recovery Fund Greenville CA.”
A fire occurred in another structure on the property in April 2019; the cause of that fire was also unknown.
