Forest mastication project begins March 1

The Plumas National Forest is encouraging the public to avoid the 24N21X Road near the South Park Trail System, north of Quincy, beginning Monday, March 1 due to a roadside mastication project.

Mastication is a fuel reduction treatment method used in forestry management to reduce wildfire risk. The process involves using a machine that grinds forest vegetation.
