Four tree lightings this weekend

Communities across Plumas County are opening the holiday season this weekend with tree lightings, light parades, merchant open houses and more. Brief descriptions of the events are offered below.

Friday, Dec. 3

Christmas in Old Town Portola

The event is from 3-7 p.m.

Annual event includes open air market with local venders in the parking lot across from Village Pharmacy, bonfire, food and beverages, prize drawings, and Renegade Light Parade. Parade stages at 4:30 p.m. and starts at 5:30 p.m., from the corner of Gulling and 3rd Ave. Christmas Tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. Santa Claus will be handing out goodies and Golden Tickets after the parade.

Community Tree Lighting in Chester

The event begins at 4 p.m.

Join us at the Community Tree Lighting this
 Friday, Dec. 3rd, at the tree near Chester Library. 

Presented by Lake Almanor Area Chamber. This event starts at 4:00pm and will feature. Food and 
Drinks  (Bar Cart proceeds will go toward the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show.)

The Quincy Sparkle

The event begins at 5 p.m.

 The magic begins at 5 p.m., with businesses staying open late for some fantastic Christmas shopping.  There will be live entertainment until 6:30 p.m. when the Light Parade begins.  Santa arrives during the Light Parade, followed by more live entertainment until 7:29 when the Christmas Tree Countdown begins.  After the lighting ceremony stay close as there will be more live entertainment and of course…shopping!

Saturday, Dec. 4

Graeagle Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting

The event begins at 1 p.m.

The celebration is from 1 to 5 p.m. with merchant open houses and horse and carriage rides. Santa will be present and the event will culminate with the tree lighting.

 

Eta Alpha Sorority Holiday Craft Faire

The event is from  9 a.m.-3  p.m. at the Veterans Hall, 274 Lawrence St., Quincy, featuring an array of handmade arts & crafts and home businesses.
