FRC’s child development center closes temporarily; baseball and softball pause due to COVID

Feather River College announced today, Jan. 19, that it received positive COVID test results from 11 students and 5 employees. Some of the positive employees are household members of previous cases. Close campus contacts have been notified.

The Child Development Center is suspending operations due to a another positive staff test result.  Parents have been notified of the temporary closure.

The California Community College Athletic Association’s protocol suspends athletic operations (practices, meetings, games, and scrimmages) if three or more positive cases are detected during a one-week timeframe for any team of less than 50 student-athletes, or a 5 percent positivity rate among the roster for teams over 50 student-athletes.

As of today, both baseball and softball teams have paused operations until the prescribed waiting period and confirmation negative tests have determined it is safe to resume practices and meetings.
