Friends of Plumas County Animals appreciates community support; 47 pets adopted

Friends of Plumas County Animals

Recently, for four hours on a very cold Saturday morning, volunteers staffed a bake and craft table at Safeway in Quincy. The homemade cookies were a hit, but it was the generosity of those who stopped to visit and talk and take home a holiday gift or treat that made the hours so successful. In four hours the Friends’ donation jar was filled with enough gifts to feed our animals in rescue for almost two months! We gave out a Volunteer Application (we always love more help) and discussed automatic monthly donation options with a few believers in animals. Thank you to everyone who donated and shared kind words with us that day—warmed our hearts, if not our hands and feet!!

Another huge THANK YOU goes out to those who sent in a tax deductible end of year donation to Friends. Rescue work is daunting at times, but we have been fortunate enough to have contact with those in our community who care deeply about the welfare of animals in Plumas County. Every donation is much appreciated and sorely needed. Since June 2022 when the site doors first opened to the animals and the public, we have taken into care 64 kittens and/or cats and have adopted out 47 of those deserving animals! Quite a feat in half a year for our little rescue!

It is not too late to send a donation to Friends for a tax deduction in 2022! Any gift, large or small, is most appreciated.

Another great way to donate to Friends is through an automatic monthly donation right through Plumas Bank. Monthly donations, in any amount, help us with the security of our financial status and give us confidence in the future of our rescue. You can go to Plumas Bank and they will help you with the form or you can pick one up at the site—1093 Lee Rd in Quincy. A really simple and convenient way to support the good work of the volunteers of Friends.

Our Friends’ volunteers and Board members are absolutely amazing people. Every single one of them is dedicated to the well being of each animal that comes into rescue. Each has a different style, all have strengths and weaknesses, all laugh easily, all take on extra work, buy things for the rescue and the animals, cover shifts, help without being asked and generally go “above and beyond” for their feline charges and each other. And all are able to work together without any arguments or harsh words. Like I said-absolutely amazing people! It is a sincere  honor to work with each and every one of them.

Kudos to Kris, Terri, Kat, Dale, Virginia, Cheree, Heidi, Yvonne, Gia, Carolyn, Cathy, Pat, Nina and Linda. If you might be interested in joining these awsome folks care for our animals please come into the site and pick up a Volunteer Application.

Friends of PC Animals is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible. All monies donated go directly to the care and comfort of the sheltered animals, no money goes towards salaries or administrative fees. Friends is not a county entity. Donations can be sent to Friends, PO Box 182 or brought to the site at 1093 Lee Rd,  Quincy 95971. Thank you
