Friends of Plumas County Animals celebrate new location

By Friends of Plumas County Animals

On Thursday, Jan. 6, Friends received keys to the Lee Road site from the school district and officially became a building owner!

We are all so excited for this opportunity to begin housing and caring for animals again in a safe space.  Volunteers met today and started the cleaning process—wiping away spider webs, cutting computer cords, washing windows and connecting in a physical way with the building that will house our animal charges. It was amazing to see the change with seven people working for a few hours.  The inside already looks fresher and less confused. Another few clean-up days and we will begin to repair walls and paint. Then the amazing things happen! With fresh walls we will update heat and plumbing and start moving all the storage items into the site to set up for the arrival of animals.

We have already had calls about animals in need, but are not able to take in any yet. We ask for a bit more patience and then we can start the process of  intake. Animals coming in need to be expected by us—please do not just show up with a cage full of strays. Friends will not be set up for feral cats so please do not trap and bring them to us. We will be able to help with spay/neuter costs with vouchers but simply cannot house feral animals.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us this past year. We realize with everything that happened in our county our rescue could have been forgotten. That is was not by so many is truly heartwarming. We appreciate your financial support and emotional support as well.

Please feel free to come by the new site if you see workers there to get a tour and watch the transformation to a new home for so many.
