Although the first day of the sale is reserved for Friends’ Members only, if you’re not currently a member you can purchase or renew your membership on the spot. This gives you the chance to be among the first to look over the sale’s many offerings. Annual memberships are only $10 per person, and lifetime memberships are $100 per person. (Please note, these memberships are PER PERSON, not per family.)

The sale will be held as usual in the Community Room of the Plumas County Library in Quincy and there are many new and interesting books for you to choose from (and rumor has it that the air conditioning will actually be turned on!). For your browsing ease, non-fiction books are organized by category and hardback and paperback fiction are in alphabetical order by author.

As always, children’s books are free, and you and your children are invited to select 20 free books per family. For the convenience of you and your family, all children’s books will be displayed outside on the library porch.

Although the Friends welcome your donations of gently used books, they can’t accept donations during the sale itself.  If you have books or media you’d like to donate after the sale, please call Bev McColm at 530-283-3997. Also, please be sure that books donated at any time comply with the book donation guidelines posted at the library.

Funds raised through these book sales go to the support of the Plumas County Library in Quincy, and to help restore library services to Greenville. The Quincy Friends have helped fund Saturday hours here in Quincy, new book and equipment purchases, and many improvements to the library meeting room to help our library better serve our community.

To make sure you’re notified of future Friends’ book sales, please be sure you’re included on the Friends’ email list. In the past you could rely on press releases in Plumas News for this information. However, as many of you know, the community will be losing this important resource after July 31st. To be added to the Friends’ mailing list, send an email to [email protected]. You need not be a member to be included on this mailing list.

In these hard times, our libraries are more important than ever as a resource and a safe haven. The Friends thank everyone for their past support and hope to continue working together in the future for the good of the community and the library.

The Friends look forward to seeing everyone at their book sales.  You can also visit them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/quincyfriendslibrary
