From the Principal’s Desk for the week of 1/29/20

Happy 2020 CES families & friends

We of course didn’t have school on Monday, Jan. 20, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It has been enjoyable to see our students studying and talking about Dr. King, his character and his many achievements throughout the classrooms.

Our teachers’ creativity and dedication to learning and supporting our students never ceases to amaze me.

Writing contest for all grades

Ms. Bainbridge is sponsoring a writing contest for all CES students with a topic on “How does diversity benefit our world” (or, how does variety help us?)

Students can write about any benefits of diversity they choose, from people, plants and animals to landscapes, etc.

Entries are due February 14.

Students may include artwork and there are no length or format requirements.

Parents are welcome to assist with the initial brainstorming. (3rd-6th grade parents — suggest students use their Step Up To Writing organization strategies.)

Winners from each grade get to dip their hand in a money jar! We hope to see all of our students participating. Thanks Ms. Bainbridge!

Delays

When we have 2-hour delays before school opens due to the snowy and icy roads, please be sure to have your child eat breakfast at home so we don’t have hungry students when they arrive to school. Thanks!

Boxing

I had one of our stellar third-grade boys ask me last week if I knew of any boxing clubs or classes in the Chester area.

I’m unaware of boxing opportunities for youth. If you know of any boxing opportunities in our area please share and I’ll pass it on.

In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
