GES graduates its sixth-grade Class of 2022

By Meg Upton

Greenville Elementary School, which operated out of Taylorsville Elementary School site in Taylorsville, graduated 10 sixth-graders last week.

The students were Brianna Angel, Liliana Escalante, Aiden Griffin, Madison Hitson, Bodie Kingdon, Carlene Lowery, Blake Metcalf, Kenley Neer, Alexis Winters, and Adelynn Smith.

GES students proved to be resilient in going to school at a new site this year and learned to go with the flow as the community began to recover from the Dixie Fire. These students overcame a late school start, Internet issues, housing issues, and all the regular and normal learning of sixth-graders in the district.

Their teacher Shannan Phillips adorned each student with an orange school colors sash personalized with their names on them for their ceremony at the Taylorsville school site.

One student will be going on to Indian Valley Academy for seventh grade, but the majority will be attending the re-opened Greenville Junior Senior High School.
