Golden Grad class of 2021 reaches fundraising goal for QHS

The Golden Grads of 2021 are happy to announce that they have reached their fundraising goal of $5,000 to be given to Quincy High School for equipment improvement in the athletic training room and gym. The grads raised $3,399 through its Facebook fundraiser and $1,750 in checks sent directly to the Trojan Booster Club. “We want to thank all our classmates, friends and relatives that helped us reach our goal,” they said in a statement.

Pam Sevier Johnson, a member of the class of 1971, wrote a successful grant for $2,500 to the Sierra Pacific Foundation to fund a memorial bench for the 22 classmates that have passed away before the 50th reunion. The bench will be located between the two giant sequoias at the front of the school. These two trees were planted in 1971 to honor two of our classmates that died in traffic accidents. Charles DeMartin in 1967 and Andy McKnight in 1970.

“The Golden Grad Class of 2021 wants to express our sincere thanks to the Sierra Pacific Foundation for their donation for our memorial bench,” read the statement.
