Graeagle Men’s Golf Association

The annual Jack & Jill Couples Golf Tournament was held July 9 at the Graeagle Meadows Golf Course.  There were 32 participants who, after playing golf, enjoyed a delicious barbeque chicken dinner at the Graeagle Picnic Grounds.  The format for the event was Chapman Scotch.  In this format each player tees off, and they then hit their second shot from where their partner’s ball came to rest. After each has hit the second shot, one of the balls is chosen, and the person who did not hit to that spot hits the next shot, and their team alternates each shot though the green.  In first place, with a net score of 64, was the team of Dottie and Ken Hattich.  Second place was the team of Kathy and Gene Carr, with a net score of 66.  Third place was the team of Ginger and Buck Houston, with a net score of 67.  Fourth place was the team of Beth and Mark Yuill with a net score of 68; and, in fifth place was the team of Alaine and Dennis Flynn, with a net score of 69.

The game July 7th was a two-man team better ball on the front nine, and the worst ball of the team on the back nine. There were 34 players competing.  First place was the team of Ron Dickie and Mike Irving with a net score of 67. Second was the team of Norm Miller and Jeff Monaghan with a net score of 68. There was a tie for third between the team of Dave Dierking/Burt Bellows and Paul Sneft/Cody Wilkinson both with net scores of 70. Fifth place was claimed by Jim Adams and Steve Harding with a net score of 72. There were four skins awarded: one each to Jim Reynolds, Ron Dickie, Jeff Monaghan, and Cody Wilkinson.

Play Day game on July 5th was Low Net plus “skins.” Fifteen players competed and first place was won by Steve Peterson with a net score of 64. Second place was a tie between Dan Anderson and Don Judson both with net scores of 67. There were seven net skins awarded: three to Mark Yuill, two to Don Judson, and one each to Norm Nichols and Jim Oster.

Twenty players vied on July 6th in “Putts Only.” In the game, only putts that begin on the green count as the game score.  The winners were:  First Place, with 28 putts, Debbie Fuetsch; Second Place, in a “card-off”, Cathy Macdonald (30); Third Place, Holly Anderson (30); Fourth Place, Susan Anderson (31); Fifth Place, in a “card-off”, Cynthia Baldwin (32); and, Sixth Place, Kris Sutton (32).  “Chip-ins” went one each to Cynthia Baldwin, Ginger Holladay-Huston, Cathy Macdonald and Patty Monaghan.

GMWGC members competed in “Four Gals, Two Best Balls” on June 29. The game rules count the two lowest net balls of the foursome on each hole.  The team of Holly Anderson, Lois Childress, Diane Forsberg and Chris Sutton won First Place, with a team score of 132.  And, Second Place was taken by the team of Shari Ashby, Cathy Churchill, Cathy Macdonald and Renee Miller, with a score of 135.  Cheryl Brennan, Lois Childress and Dee Walker each had one “chip-in”.
