Men’s golf in Graeagle
Graeagle men’s golf week started on July 13 with the GMGA travel team playing at Plumas Pines. The outcome was disappointing with Graeagle Men’s Golf Association losing to Plumas Pines.
The next day the game was 3, 2, 1 with three balls counted on the first hole, two balls on the second and one ball on the third, with the sequence repeating through the rest of the round. The team of Bert Bellows, Andy Knudsen, Chuck Franck and Ken Hattich took first place shooting a combined 123, interesting coincidence? Chuck Weidner, Steve Peterson, Ron Eaton and Ron Clark pulled into second place with the combined score of 125. Four skins were taken with Bob McIlroy taking hole 2 with a 2, Norm Miller taking hole 11 with a 3, Steve Peterson grabbing hole 15 with a 2, and Michael Gibson bringing home hole 18 with a 3.
The men played July 16, but game format and results are not yet known. There were two matches played with Jim Foug besting Gene Carr 4 & 2 and Bert Bellows over Jeff Monaghan 5 & 4. This concludes round two in preparation for the semi-finals coming up.

Women’s golf in Graeagle
Mother Nature smiled on the GMWGC players, with pleasantly warm (not hot!) temperatures, and a cooling breeze. The game was “Criss Cross” in which, after play, each player chooses her best gross score on either hole 1 or hole 18; hole 2 or hole 17; and so on. The total scores on the chosen holes are subtracted by one-half of the 18-hole handicap for the end game score. The winners were: Flight 1, Renee Miller (29) in first place; Ginger Holladay-Houston (29.5) in second place; Cindy Hanna (31) in third place; and, Sharon Russell (31.5) in fourth place. Flight 2, Kathy Khalar (27.5) in first; Chris Spencer (32) in second; Maureen Ford and Diane Forsberg, both with 33.5 finished tied for third.
