Greenville Rotary announces available scholarships
The Rotary Club of Greenville wants to help students in Indian Valley receive the training they need to contribute to their community.
With that goal in mind, the Club will once again be presenting multiple scholarships in 2021 to graduates of Indian Valley high schools who plan to pursue an academic or vocational education. Accredited four-year universities or two-year community colleges will qualify, and so will accredited vocational schools where students may pursue such fields as lineman, nursing, welding and culinary arts.
The highest award will be a Distinguished Student Renewable Scholarship for one 2021 graduate in the amount of $1,000 per year for up to four years.
The next level will be one-year Distinguished Student Scholarships for 2021 graduates in the amount of $500 or $1,000. The club will present as many scholarships at this level as it has funding for.
Finally, the Greenville Rotary Club will present one Alumni Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a previous graduate of an Indian Valley high school who is either continuing his or her education or is going back to school to pursue an academic or vocational education. There is no age limit for this scholarship.
These scholarships may be awarded based on need or merit. Students who have a good academic record as well as students who have financial need are encouraged to apply.
Distinguished Student Scholarship Applications must be turned in to the appropriate Indian Valley high school offices before those offices close on Friday, May 21. The Alumni Scholarship Application must be sent to Greenville Rotary at P.O. Box 207, Greenville, CA 95947 and postmarked by Monday, May 17, 2021. Applications are available at both Indian Valley high school offices or from Travis Rubke at 530-284-6473 or [email protected] or from Kest Porter at 530-616-0226 or [email protected].
Scholarships will be awarded at the high school graduation ceremonies in June.
In its effort to support as many qualified students as possible, the Greenville Rotary Club is collecting tax deductible donations in any amount. Any administrative or ancillary costs will be borne by the Greenville Rotary Club so that the full amount of all donations will go to students. As of January 6, 2021, $13,000 has already been pledged to the Rotary Foundation Scholarship Fund. Any business, group, or individual who would like to help support this effort can send their tax-deductible donation to the Greenville Rotary Foundation Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 207, Greenville, CA 95947. For further information, please contact Travis Rubke or Kest Porter at the phone numbers or email addresses listed above. Your support will be appreciated.
