In preparation for the Groundhog Fever Festival scheduled for Feb. 5, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce is seeking vendors, chili cook-off contestants, and volunteers. The eighth/ninth (does the video we did in lieu of a live event last year count?) annual event will take place at the Plumas County Courthouse at 520 Main St. in Quincy from 1 to 5 p.m.
In years’ past, the event drew a large crowd of festival goers wishing to shake off the winter blues. With live music, a chili cook-off, libations, entertainment, announcement of the Honorary Mayor of Quincy, mini-contests, and of course, the weather prediction of world-famous groundhog Chuck Wood, the event is sure to be good time and is always fun for the whole family!
Booths cost $25 for a 10-foot by 10-foot space, and free for nonprofits. The cost to enter the chili cook-off is $25. Winners of the Peoples’ Choice and Judge’s Choice awards will split the entry fees and receive a trophy and bragging rights. A special trophy for best decorated booth will also be handed out.
Those wishing to have a table a booth or enter the chili cook-off can pick up a registration form at The Toy Store, Plumas Bank, or online at http://www.quincychamber.com/groundhog-fever-festival.html. If you wish to register for this event and/or pay their registration fees electronically, visit our website at the address above and click on the “Register Online for the Festival Here” button.
