UPDATE: The roadway is reopened following debris clearance.
It probably comes as no surprise, but Highway 70 is currently closed from the Greenville Wye to the Jarbo Gap due to slides and rocks in the road. As of 10:15 a.m. this morning, Oct. 22, the CHP was estimating a 2-3 hour closure to allow time to clear the debris.
An even bigger storm is predicted for this Sunday into Monday, so motorists should check with Caltrans before proceeding on any local roadways, but remember that the situation can change from one moment to the next.
