History Night at Memorial Hall

The Chester-Lake Almanor Museum History Night Program tomorrow, July 25, features a discussion on the settlement of the eastern side of Big Meadows in the 1850s and ’60s, concentrating on the Hamilton, Holmes and Bidwell families. The Hamilton and Holmes families were the first of a number of pioneer dairy ranching families who settled Big Meadows.

The Bidwells, on the other hand, were the first family to cater to travelers and tourists, and by 1900 were the first to embrace the coming of hydroelectric development.

The History Night program is free and will be presented at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall in Chester, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
