It’s official! It’s golf season

Graeagle Men’s Golf Association season began May 5 with the annual Spring General Membership Meeting. During the meeting the board laid out their view of activities for the year and gave the members present an accounting of where the association stands. Following the meeting the first of numerous tournaments was held.
The first tournament of the year is always the, ever popular, red white and green scramble. In this format there are 4-man teams that play 6 holes from each of the listed tee colors in a scramble format. There was a tie for first place with each team coming in with the score of 52. One team was comprised of Jim Adams, Jay Hendrick, Todd Solomon and James Oster while the second team was comprised of Ron Clark, William Hopp, Charles Hein and Gary Kinkley. Third place went to the team of Mark Yuill, Dan Anderson, George Fraser and David Macdonald with the score of 53.
Friday was a standard play day and it was a 2-man event. First place was a tie between the team of Leo Reihsen and Chuck Hein plus the team of Chuck Weidner and Jim Reynolds, each team shooting a combined 63. Tied at 64 were the teams of Mark Yuill and Dan Anderson as well as Scott Peterson and Dave Macdonald. There were only 2 skins taken on Friday, those went to Mark Yuill with a 2 on hole 1 and Leo Reihsen with a 3 on hole 7.
Next up for GMGA will be a Travel Team match against Fernley on Tuesday, May 11, at Graeagle Meadows, and a couple’s tournament called the Cha Cha Cha on Sunday, May 16. The Travel Team will compete Tuesday, May 18, against Fernley, but this time the matches will be played at The Golf Club in Fernley.
