John Edward Dembosz

John Edward Dembosz, 73, of Bend, Oregon, passed away October 19, 2020, in Bend. Chapel services, with military honors, will be on Friday, October 30, at Deschutes Memorial Cascades Mausoleum Chapel, Bend. John was born February 13, 1947, in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Joseph and Helen (Curren) Dembosz. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, but was assigned to the Marine’s Medical Corps. He was known as “Doc Dembosz” due to saving countless lives on the frontlines in Vietnam. He was discharged in December of 1969 as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class.

John studied Liberal Arts at Yuba Junior College, later attending St. Mary’s College of California where he studied Chemistry. On August 18, 1973, John married Sammie Ann Blinn at St. John’s Catholic Church in Quincy, CA.

John worked as a purchasing director at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and Vacaville, CA, living in American Canyon for over 25 years. They moved to Bend in March of 2019 to be near their daughters.

John loved the outdoors and would take his girls salmon fishing with him when he could. He loved walking every day in his neighborhood with his Buddy, Paul. He also loved gardening and cooking for his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

Those left to mourn his passing include his wife of 47 years, Sammie; a step-daughter, Leigh Ann Lenhart (Will Weygandt) of Culver, OR; daughters, Lindsay Dembosz (Rick Molinari) of Bend and Rebecca (Dusty) Lomeland, of Camas, WA; 3 grandchildren, Julian Lenhart of Marion, IN, Shallen Lenhart of Bend, OR and Elliott Lomeland of Camas, CA; a sister, Linda (Paul) Stroud of Sheridan, WY and 2 brothers, Timothy (Rose) Dembosz of Quincy, CA and Steven Dembosz of Thompson Falls, MT.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Dembosz.
