Julia McGarva honored by Soroptimists
Quincy High School faculty selected Soropti-Student Julia McGarva for her excellence in academics, leadership, activities and community service. Julia says she especially loves art, reading and the outdoors. This year for the first time she was on the fall soccer team and cheerleading. This spring she completed four years on the varsity tennis team.
Considering a possible future in the medical profession, Julia’s senior project was job shadowing local medical careers. She shadowed over 16 hours with 8 individuals. For her community service she volunteered at the Hospice Fundraiser Kepple Concert. She is a member of the S-Club and helped spread mental health awareness this month during high school lunch with trivia related to the topic. Members also volunteered at the Children’s Faire.
Julia will attend Feather River College in the fall and then pursue higher education majoring in Environmental Science.
