Kaye Margaret Swanson

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kaye Margaret (Todd) Swanson on February 23, 2023, at her home in Chico, California.

Kaye was born on February 4, 1948 in Westwood, CA to Daniel and Helen Todd of Chester, CA.   She was a loving mother, wife and friend. Kaye is survived by her sons, Neil Meyers and Eric Swanson, her sister and brother-in-law Toddy and Dave Cutler. Her niece Jen Cutler (Craig Bowhay), her nephew Jeff (Kellie) Cutler and their children Henry and Lily. She was married to Stephen Myers in 1971 and Gerald Swanson in 1981. Both husbands predeceased her.

Kaye graduated from Chester High School in 1966. She attended Shasta College and Chico State University graduating with a BA in Social Sciences. She taught pre- school in Chester and later was employed for many years by P G &E in Chico and Eureka. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women in Chico. After retirement in 2003 she and Jerry moved back to her home town. While in Chester she was a volunteer with Seneca Hospital Auxiliary, serving as Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator. She was a valuable volunteer with the Skilled Nursing Facility at Seneca. She was a member of BO Chapter of P.E.O. and the Community Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary.

Growing up in Chester, she lived a life full of love, happiness and enjoyment of the outdoors. Kaye spent time with friends and family skiing at Stover Mountain, swimming, exploring the outdoors, and riding her horse Apache. She possessed a generous nature, coupled with a sense of adventure and daring. She was a talented artist enjoying painting, taking photographs of nature and spending time with her friends and many pets. She is remembered horseback riding with friends around the Almanor Basin and even riding on cattle drives over the Humbolt Summit with the Baccala Ranch hands. Kaye and her dad were proud to serve with the Mt. Lassen Ski Patrol.

Kaye’s legacy will live on through the memories she created and the love she shared with those around her. A Celebration of Life will be held at Community Methodist Church in Chester May 13, 2023, at 11 am.
