Kelli Marie Whalen Pettigrew

Kelli Marie Whalen Pettigrew was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 3, 2022, surrounded by her family that will miss her every day.

Kelli was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, on December 1, 1960, to Georgine Cleem Whalen and Michael Whalen. Growing up in Southern California with her mom and brother, she spent days listening to Foreigner and hanging out at the beach with her friends, After graduating in 1978 from Costa Mesa High school, she moved to Wyoming where she met and married Jay. They went on to have three boys, Jaycob, Josh, and James, and became the mom with the best pantry in the neighborhood. She drove thousands of miles to baseball, basketball, football and snowboard races, always with a full car of boys. Hosting epic team dinners for football, she always made sure every boy who came through the door felt at home.

Kelli worked at Seneca Hospital for 35 years, eventually becoming the Finance Department Manager, but was surely appreciated each and every payday. She will be dearly missed by her fellow friends and coworkers.

She and Jay loved cruising and traveling with her brother Mike and best friends Doug and Cheryl, enjoying Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. In the last few years a fabulous cruise through the Panama Canal and an epic Mediterranean cruise became highlights. She loved having adventures that included ziplining, parasailing, kayaking and snorkeling. And of course a Bahama Mama on the beach with her bestie!

Kelli is survived by her husband Jay, sons Jaycob (Jessie), Josh (Nicole) and James, mom Georgine and brother Michael, father Michael (Kay) and siblings Julie, Scott and Todd Taylor, as well as grandchildren Hope, Nick, Zack and Corinne (Jaycob and Jessie), Jayson (Josh and Nicole) and Kara (James), in-laws Mike and Ivon Pettigrew. She will be sadly missed by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. In her lifetime she had many friends in Chester, Quincy, and Rawlins, Wyoming that will feel the loss.

Although she has gone from this mortal earth to her reward in heaven, her family will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 30 at the Almanor Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Be sure to wear your beach best!
