Lake Almanor charts promising numbers for pandemic
Lake Almanor resident Dale Knutsen has been charting the coronavirus pandemic in Plumas County as well as the state for months. He had some good news to report going into this past weekend, April 9.
(1) Weekly new cases in California … increased by 17,273 to a new total of 3,595,224; the weekly increase has declined to a level not seen since early June of 2020.
(2) Weekly deaths in California … increased by 709 to new total of 59113; that’s the smallest weekly increase since early December.
(3) Plumas County weekly new cases … increased by only 2 this past week; hooray!
(4) Plumas County total cases … new total is 687, with total deaths still holding steady at 6.
Knutsen summed it up: “Overall, there appears to be reason for hope — as long as we keep up the pace of vaccinations.”3PlumasNewCases9April
